You’ve been dreaming about visiting Egypt….

Karnak wasn't built by one king or even one dynasty. It grew over nearly two thousand years as generations of pharaohs added their own contributions to this sacred city dedicated to Amun, Mut, and Khonsu.

Walking beneath the towering columns of the Great Hypostyle Hall, it's difficult not to feel humbled by the scale of what ancient Egyptians accomplished.

For those who wish, there is an optional private visit to the hidden sanctuary of Sekhmet, the lioness goddess associated with both destruction and healing. Few visitors have the opportunity to spend quiet time with this remarkable statue.

By afternoon we return to the dahabiyah, raise the sails, and begin drifting south toward Aswan.

There is something magical about watching Egypt unfold from the water. Villages and sacred ruins appear and disappear along the riverbanks as we sail South as the ancient Pharaohs once did.

Dinner is served onboard beneath the stars.

Wake to fresh coffee on deck, breakfast prepared by our private chef, and the gentle sound of the river carrying us toward Esna Temple, dedicated to Khnum, the ram-headed creator god believed to have created humanity from clay upon his potter's wheel.

Unlike many temples, Esna remained buried beneath centuries of city life, helping preserve its remarkably vivid ceilings and intricate carvings.

Later we'll experience one of the Nile's engineering marvels as we pass through the Esna Lock before continuing south.

As evening begins, the crew prepares a traditional Egyptian barbecue feast. Egyptian music fills the night, dancing begins, and another unforgettable night unfolds beneath the stars.

We'll visit the ancient sandstone quarries of Gebel el-Silsila, where enormous blocks were carved to build temples throughout Upper Egypt. Standing here offers a rare glimpse into the immense human effort behind Egypt's greatest monuments.

Later we arrive at Kom Ombo, a unique double temple dedicated equally to Horus the Elder and Sobek, the crocodile god of the Nile.

Here, mythology, medicine, astronomy, and daily life are carved into stone in extraordinary detail. The temple even contains some of the earliest known depictions of surgical instruments.

Back aboard the dahabiyah, another evening activity awaits as we continue sharing stories, laughter, and incredible food.

Our first stop is Philae Temple, one of Egypt's most enchanting sanctuaries. Reached only by boat, the temple dedicated to Isis sits on an island surrounded by calm blue water.

According to Egyptian mythology, Isis journeyed across Egypt searching for the scattered pieces of Osiris, restoring him through love, devotion, and extraordinary determination. For many visitors, this temple carries a deeply peaceful and feminine energy.

We'll also visit the impressive Aswan High Dam before setting out on a peaceful river journey through the Nile's granite cataracts to Sheila Island.

Our day concludes in the welcoming Nubian village of Nagar Suhal Garb, where vibrant colors, warm hospitality, and rich traditions offer a glimpse into one of Egypt's oldest living cultures.

Tonight we spend the evening in Aswan before beginning our return north.

Dedicated to Horus, the falcon-headed god of protection and rightful kingship, Edfu preserves some of the best inscriptions anywhere in Egypt describing ancient temple rituals and sacred festivals.

Walking through its towering gateway, it's easy to imagine priests, pilgrims, and processions filling these same spaces more than two thousand years ago.

Later we'll wander through Edfu's lively local market, where spices, textiles, handmade goods, and everyday Egyptian life create a colorful contrast to the ancient world we've been exploring.

The afternoon invites you to simply enjoy the Nile, perhaps with a swim, a good book, or conversation on deck as the dahabiyah carries us onward on our journey.

Today we explore Luxor's legendary West Bank, where the ancient Egyptians believed the setting sun symbolized the passage into eternity.

We'll descend into the beautifully decorated tombs of the Valley of the Kings, where pharaohs prepared for their journey into the afterlife.

At the breathtaking Temple of Hatshepsut, we'll learn the remarkable story of Egypt's most successful female pharaoh, whose reign challenged convention and reshaped history.

We'll also visit Deir el-Medina, home to the skilled artisans who built the royal tombs, the colorful Noble Tombs, and finally stand before the towering Colossi of Memnon, silent guardians who have watched over the Theban plain for more than 3,000 years.

Dedicated to Hathor, goddess of love, music, beauty, joy, and motherhood, Dendara Temple is unlike anywhere else in Egypt.

Its richly painted ceilings remain astonishingly vibrant, while its famous astronomical ceiling reflects the ancient Egyptians' sophisticated understanding of the heavens.

Later, we'll enjoy some relaxed shopping before gathering for a festive Egyptian evening featuring dinner, Sufi music, and a celebration at Ahmed’s family’s Alabaster Factory.

Long before Luxor became Egypt's grand capital, Abydos was considered the spiritual heart of the country and the legendary burial place of Osiris.

The Temple of Seti I contains some of Egypt's finest relief carvings, remarkably delicate works that have survived thousands of years with extraordinary detail.

After soaking in the quiet atmosphere of this remarkable place, we'll continue our journey north to Cairo.

Here we'll stand before the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the world's first monumental stone building and the architectural breakthrough that changed history forever.

Nearby lies the mysterious Serapeum, a vast underground complex housing enormous granite sarcophagi whose purpose continues to inspire debate and fascination.

No matter how many photographs you've seen, nothing prepares you for your first glimpse of the Great Pyramid rising from the desert.

We'll spend the day exploring the Giza Plateau, including the iconic Sphinx, while learning about the incredible engineering and enduring mysteries surrounding these monuments.

As evening falls, we'll explore the winding streets of Old Cairo, where mosques, churches, cafés, and centuries of history blend into one unforgettable atmosphere.

After nearly two weeks walking through temples, sailing the Nile, sharing meals, and discovering Egypt together, this final visit offers a chance to connect everything you've experienced.

We'll gather one last time for a farewell dinner, celebrating new friendships, unforgettable memories, and the country that has a way of capturing people's hearts long after they've returned home. Airport transportation will occur this evening or the next day.
